There's a food pantry literally half a block from my house, which takes donations all week and hands them out of Fridays -- great work those people are doing. I remember back when I was unemployed taking government cheese, butter and beans, but apparently they're not doing that in this recession.
My daughter's boyfriends just got laid off, so ... the good news just keeps on coming.

People here think that just because my mom is a nurse and gets a sum of 2000 a month, means that we can afford stuff. Newsflash for those who think that. If we don't eat, don't buy winter clothes, don't fight back against a bunch of crap being thrown at us, and go with out water, warmth, or even electricity, we can afford to stay in the house. My mom has to pay two morgages for the house which makes the house payment 2000

I'm with you -- my base problem is also two mortgages, thanks to my divorce: She got the car, I got the house along with the payments for both of them and everything else we owed on. One of us had a very good lawyer, and it wasn't me. I went through bankruptcy, but this house is where our kids grew up so during the proceedings I opted to keep it, which means I still have to pay for it -- it's been rough.

Everyone is just so stressed lately
Now we know that my going to online high school WAS a good idea indeed.
There would be quite a few problems if I weren't home schooling.
I've heard about a food pantry, but I still don't know...
